FIFA 23 TOTS, short for Team of the Season, is on the horizon and will bring back one of the most popular annual promos in Ultimate Team. Traditionally starting around the end of April, TOTS is a highlight on the FUT calendar and enables players to get some of the best cards available in the game. It’s understandable, then, that the hype for TOTS is pretty massive year after year.

Just like every year, however, both newcomers and series veterans have a bunch of questions surrounding the promo. What exactly is Team of the Season? When does TOTS start in FIFA 23?

Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming FIFA 23 TOTS promo.

When does FIFA 23 TOTS start?

As mentioned before, TOTS usually starts between April and May – just in time for the big soccer leagues in Europe to crown their champions and wrap up their seasons. FIFA 22’s TOTS promo started on April 29, 2022, with the release of its first cards in FUT.

For FIFA 23, there is no confirmed TOTS start date at the moment. However, we can expect the promo to start around a similar time frame once again due to its real-world connection. April 21, 2023, would be an early start, while April 28, 2023, would almost completely mirror last year’s release date. Both are Fridays – the traditional promo release day – and in the correct window.

We’ll update you here as soon as there are reliable leaks or an official confirmation is available.

How does FIFA 23 TOTS work?

As the name suggests, TOTS celebrates the best players of the 2022/23 season in soccer with the biggest leagues getting their due time in the spotlight. Here is the TOTS schedule from FIFA 22 to give you an idea of just how huge TOTS is these days:

  • Community: April 29 to May 6
  • Eredivisie: April 29 to May 8
  • Premier League: May 6 to May 13
  • EFL: May 8 to May 15
  • Bundesliga: May 13 to May 20
  • Saudi Pro League: May 15 to May 22
  • LaLiga: May 20 to May 27
  • Liga Portugal: May 22 to May 29
  • Ligue 1: May 27 to June 3
  • Süper Lig: May 28 to June 5
  • Belgium Pro League: May 29 to June 5
  • Serie A: June 3 to June 10
  • Rest of World: June 4 to June 11
  • MLS: June 5 to June 12
  • Ultimate TOTS: June 10 to June 17

Basically, TOTS consists of a series of card releases focusing on different national leagues. The five big European leagues from England, Spain, Germany, France, and Italy are the cornerstones of the promo together with the Community TOTS, all of which players can vote for, and the Ultimate TOTS, which is a release containing highlight cards from all the different leagues. Interspersed are all the smaller leagues, which usually get released during the week as opposed to the Friday releases for the big fish.

As usual, you can expect a whole bunch of Squad Building Challenges (SBCs) and Objectives as well. FIFA 22 also featured a Token Swaps program to go with TOTS, which should return for FIFA 23 given the system’s popularity.

FIFA 23 introduced promo-specific Hero and Icon cards into the series, and it’s possible that such special editions will accompany TOTS as well.
