Final Fantasy 16 is the new, massive game in Square Enix’s long-running JRPG saga. The game is available today as a PS5 exclusive, and allows you to experience a wide range of side quests and grand adventures.

Let’s take a look at how long it takes to beat Final Fantasy 16, and what you will be able to do after finishing the story.

How long to beat Final Fantasy 16

Final Fantasy 16 took us 63 hours to complete. Our hour count is based on completing the main quest, all side quests, and about 10 to 15 hunts.

You could add more hours by completing the remaining hunts and engaging with Arcade Mode, where you can get busy with the lovely combat system.

Square Enix suggests that it should take around 30 hours, if you only stick to the main story. Since several side quests are required to access essential new features, such as Chocobo mounts, we don’t recommend this. However, those quests are marked appropriately, so you could just tackle these alongside the main story if you want to finish more quickly.

What is Final Fantasy Mode - Final Fantasy 16

Final Fantasy 16 - Final Fantasy Mode

Final Fantasy Mode is FF16's hard difficulty which only unlocks with New Game+, after completing the story once.

Now, what do you do after completing the story? Once you have completed the main quest, you unlock the New Game+. New Game+ allows you to restart the story with all your equipment and your level unlocked right from the beginning.

New Game+ is the only way you can access Final Fantasy Mode, which is, in fact, the game’s hard mode. This mode raises your level cap to 100, with “far more powerful enemies”. In addition, you will be able to forge the legendary Ultima Weapon from the start.

During your new run, you won’t be able to change difficulty, so if you find it too tough, you’ll have to start from scratch.
