When you reach the end of Poppy Sweeting’s questlines in Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll come to a mission called A Bird in the Hand, which asks you to find a way through a magical door surrounded by symbols. There’s a structure in front of the door where you place the Moonstone, and there are two movable pillars around the outside.

Make sure to read through our other Hogwarts Legacy guides for everything you need to know about the game, including puzzle solutions, item locations, and more.

After you’ve spoken to Dorran the Centaur, you’ll be guided towards a door that’s locked. There are symbols on the door itself and two pillars that can be pulled around.

Once you insert the Moonstone into the central contraption, the pillars will light up. Your goal is to illuminate the images that are glowing on the door by shifting the pillars opposite the symbols on the floor.

To shift the pillars, you simply need to use the Accio spell.

  • Look at the door itself and you’ll see two of the symbols are lit up — the sun and the circle with a dot in the middle and a backward “r” underneath it.
  • Light up the sun symbol by moving the outside edge pillar to the right of the scythe-looking symbol on the floor.
  • Once that’s done, adjust the other pillar until it shines on the other glowing symbol – the circle with the dot and the reverse “r” – on the door. If done right, the door will open.

If it isn’t working, it’s likely that you’ve accidentally highlighted a very similar-looking symbol to the second one, as there is one that’s exactly the same but missing the dot in the middle of the circle.

Once you’ve done it correctly, the door will open and you’re free to return to your hunt for the Snidgets.
