Last Epoch Update 1.0 will arrive this week, ending the title’s Early Access period and starting a new era. Developed with heavy input from the community, Last Epoch hopes to establish itself as an alternative option for hack ‘n slay RPG fans somewhere between Diablo and Path of Exile.

According to SteamDB, this gambit seems to be going well at the moment: Last Epoch clocked in peak concurrent player numbers between 32,000 and 27,000 over the weekend, ahead of Path of Exile with roughly 24,000 and Diablo 4 with around 12,000 – though for Blizzard’s title Steam numbers aren’t the end-all-be-all, of course.

Last Epoch Update 1.0: How long will servers be down?

It’s important to note that the Last Epoch servers go down 24 hours before Update 1.0 will be released, which means that you won’t be able to log in during this timeframe. If you’re playing offline while the servers go down, you should get to continue without any issues.

Eleventh Hour Games has carefully prepared its infrastructure for launch day in a bid to avoid any issues like recent releases Palworld and Helldivers 2, according to CEO Judd Cobbler.

"We’ve scale tested for months with third parties, consultants, the help of infra providers, and our own backend team," he wrote in a post on Reddit. "We have the ability to scale servers quickly, have reserved a large amount of bare metal machines, and do not have a maximum spend for cloud overflow – it’s all elastic. From the extensive testing we’ve done, unless we do have a really crazy turnout, we should be stable."

He said that the possibility of launch day issues is "probably the most stressing thing to the team" due to player reactions like review-bombing, which can strongly hamper a title's start.
