Pokémon Go Dark Flames: all Research tasks
Dark Flames have engulfed Pokémon Go – and not just because Niantic enraged players once again. A new event with that name began on June 29, 2023, and will last until July 2, 2023, at 8pm local time. Aside from the debuts of Mega Sableye and Turtonator (including the Shiny form of the latter), Dark Flames has all sorts of Research in store: You can complete Field Research, two Collection Challenges, and a Timed Research with two different paths.
Turtonator, the new Pokémon introduced during this event, is among the rewards for the quests. You can gain a lot of Mega Energy for Houndoom as well, which will enable you to mega evolve an additional member of the species – you can expect to catch a powerful specimen during the Timed Research, in case you’re lacking one.
Here are all Pokémon Go Dark Flames Research tasks and their rewards.
Pokémon Go Dark Flames: all Timed Research tasks
The Dark Flames Timed Research will only remain available until July 2, 2023, at 8pm local time, after which any quests that are left unfinished will vanish and the rewards become inaccessible. The Research consists of four steps and you’ll be asked to choose between the Dark-type and Fire-type path after completing the first of these.
Step 1 of 4
- Walk 2 km: Pokéball x10
- Catch 2 Fire- or Dark-type Pokémon: Great Ball x10
- Catch 10 different species of Pokémon: Ultra Ball x10
- Complete all tasks in this step: Rare Candy x3, Razz Berry x5, Stardust x1,000
Choose between “Dark-type Pokémon” and “Fire-type Pokémon” to continue. You’ll get one of the two available Collection Challenges based on this choice as well, though both have the same rewards.
Pokémon Go Dark Flames: all Field Research tasks
You can obtain Dark Flames Field Research tasks by spinning PokéStops until July 2, 2023, at 8pm local time. The following tasks are available:
- Catch 5 Dark-type Pokémon: Alolan Meowth, Alolan Grimer
- Catch 5 Fire-type Pokémon: Litwick, Magmar
- Win a raid in under 60 seconds: Alolan Marowak, Sneasel
- Win 3 raids: Turtonator
Pokémon Go Dark Flames: Collection Challenges
Depending on which path you choose in the Timed Research, your Dark Flames Collection Challenge will focus on Dark-types or Fire-types. However, both paths offer the same rewards, so it’s just a matter of preference. The Collection Challenge must be completed by July 2, 2023, at 8pm local time for you to obtain the rewards.
The Dark-type options have a little bit more synergy with each other, but at the end of the day you should choose based on your current needs and goals.
