Element Cup Remix – Little Edition is the first limited format in Pokémon Go’s Battle League during the Adventures Abound season, running until September 15, 2023. That means you still have until the end of the week to climb the ranks. This format runs alongside Great League.

This Go Battle League competition runs on a special ruleset limiting participating Pokémon to a maximum amount of 500 competition points (CP). In addition, you may only field Pokémon that are able to evolve into another creature, but haven’t evolved yet. In other words: only base forms are allowed. It further limits the amount of Pokémon you can use by restricting you to monsters of the types Fire, Grass, and Water. The Remix part of the title introduces another restriction by banning Chinchou, Cottonee, Ducklett, and Salandit, who usually dominate the regular edition of this format.

It's all about the three basic types in Pokémon Go Element Cup.

Element Cup Remix – Little Edition: Best Leads

These Pokémon aggressively apply pressure on your opponent right from the start of a duel and can survive even tough battles for a long time – they are perfect to open a match up, enabling you to score an early knockout or set up a strong counter play.

  1. Dewpider (Bug Bite, Mirror Coat, Bubble Beam)
  2. Shadow Oddish (Razor Leaf, Sludge Bomb, Seed Bomb)
  3. Litwick (Ember, Mystical Fire, Flame Charge)
  4. Chikorita(S) (Vine Whip, Body Slam, Grass Knot)
  5. Seel (Lick, Aqua Tail, Icy Wind)
  6. Oddish (Razor Leaf, Sludge Bomb, Seed Bomb)
  7. Slugma (Rock Throw, Rock Slide, Flame Charge)
  8. Mantyke (Tackle, Aerial Ace, Ice Beam)
  9. Bounsweet(XL) (Razor Leaf, Energy Ball, Draining Kiss)
  10. Budew (Razor Leaf, Energy Ball Grass Knot)

(S) = Regular form and Shadow form perform comparably. (XL) = Pokémon requires Candy XL to reach its optimal combat level.

Element Cup Remix – Little Edition: Best Safe Switches

If the opening pairing is to your disadvantage, you should consider switching out your lead for another Pokémon. This is where this category comes into play. They are either strong leads themselves or are specialized in countering some of the most popular leads. In any case, a switch will preserve your original lead to fight later on in the battle and perhaps force your opponent to also adapt their strategy on the fly.

  1. Dewpider (Bug Bite, Mirror Coat, Bubble Beam)
  2. Chikorita(S) (Vine Whip, Body Slam, Grass Knot)
  3. Shadow Vulpix (Quick Attack, Weather Ball (Fire), Body Slam)
  4. Shadow Lileep (Infestation, Ancient Power, Grass Knot)
  5. Quaxly (Wing Attack, Aerial Ace, Liquidation)
  6. Mantyke (Tackle, Aerial Ace, Ice Beam)
  7. Vulpix (Quick Attack, Weather Ball (Fire), Body Slam)
  8. Lileep (Infestation, Ancient Power, Grass Knot)
  9. Seel (Lick, Aqua Tail, Icy Wind)
  10. Shadow Oddish (Razor Leaf, Sludge Bomb, Seed Bomb)

Element Cup Remix – Little Edition: Best Closers

These Pokémon are particularly useful when there are no shields left in play on either side – they are incredibly tough themselves or end battles quickly thanks to powerful charge attacks.

  1. Lileep(S) (Infestation, Ancient Power, Grass Knot)
  2. Shadow Vulpix (Quick Attack, Weather Ball (Fire), Body Slam)
  3. Shadow Poliwag (Mud Shot, Body Slam, Mud Bomb)
  4. Shadow Chikorita (Vine Whip, Body Slam, Grass Knot)
  5. Fomantis (Leafage, Leaf Blade, Grass Knot)
  6. Quaxly (Wing Attack, Aerial Ace, Liquidation)
  7. Mantyke (Tackle, Aerial Ace, Ice Beam)
  8. Shroomish (Tackle, Grass Knot, Seed Bomb)
  9. Seel (Lick, Aqua Tail, Icy Wind)
  10. Shadow Bulbasaur (Vine Whip, Seed Bomb, Sludge Bomb)

Element Cup Remix – Little Edition: Best Attackers

These Pokémon perform best when fighting a trainer who still has shields, while you no longer have shields yourself. They combine important resistances and strong fast attacks to compensate for this disadvantage. For this reason, you rarely see Shadow forms in this role – they take more damage than their regular counterparts, making them a risky card to put on the table.

  1. Shadow Oddish (Razor Leaf, Sludge Bomb, Seed Bomb)
  2. Litwick (Ember, Mystical Fire, Flame Charge)
  3. Bounsweet(XL) (Razor Leaf, Energy Ball, Draining Kiss)
  4. Pumpkaboo (Super, Large, Average) (Razor Leaf, Grass Knot, Foul Play)
  5. Shadow Turtwig (Razor Leaf, Energy Ball, Body Slam)
  6. Budew (Razor Leaf, Energy Ball Grass Knot)
  7. Pumpkaboo (Small) (Razor Leaf, Grass Knot, Foul Play)
  8. Dewpider (Bug Bite, Mirror Coat, Bubble Beam)
  9. Oddish (Razor Leaf, Sludge Bomb, Seed Bomb)
  10. Ferroseed (Tackle, Iron Head, Flash Cannon)

Element Cup Remix – Little Edition’s meta definitely changes things up compared to the regular edition of the format thanks to those additional bans, but also due to the balance changes that the Adventures Abound update has introduced. Among these is a change to Aerial Ace that has brought a few new faces to the forefront.

Overall, Dewpider has a strong position thanks to its typing and move combo, but it’s nowhere near as dominant as the group around Ducklett. Much power is vested in Razor Leaf users, who are often glass cannons – Shadow Oddish being the most radical example – and make duels into very intense affairs.
