Pokémon Go Ultra Unlock: Paldea – all research tasks
Paldea is the name of the game at the moment when it comes to Pokémon Go, as even more creatures from Pokémon Scarlet & Violet get to celebrate their debut in the mobile game.
Ultra Unlock: Paldea runs until September 15, 2023, introducing nine additional new monsters across four species to the title:
- Nymble and Lokix (evolution requires 50 Nymble Candy)
- Pawmi, Pawmo (evolution requires 25 Pawmi Candy), and Pawmot (evolution requires 100 Pawmi Candy as well as exploring 25 km with Pawmo as your buddy)
- Bombirdier
- Frigibax, Arctibax (evolution requires 25 Frigibax Candy), and Baxcalibur (evolution requires 100 Frigibax Candy)
Bombirdier is available as a Shiny right from the start, just like the recently introduced Lechonk. Some of these Pokémon can be obtained through the Field Research and Paid Timed Research exclusive to this event, so here are all Ultra Unlock: Paldea research tasks in Pokémon Go.

Pokémon Go Ultra Unlock: Paldea – all Field Research tasks
These Field Research tasks can be obtained from spinning the photo discs of PokéStops during the event’s runtime. Once you’ve got them in your quest log, there won’t be any immediate time constraints on these missions, so feel free to complete at your own pace.
Here are all Ultra Unlock: Paldea Field Research tasks:
- Catch 5 Pokémon: Pawmi
- Catch 5 Nymble: Stardust x500
- Catch 20 Nymble: Stardust x2,500
Pokémon Go Ultra Unlock: Paldea – all Paid Timed Research tasks
You can purchase a Paid Timed Research called “I’ve Got Your Back” from the shop for $5, giving you access to a quest consisting of one step with six tasks. If you buy this research, please ensure that you finish it by September 15, 2023, as you won’t be able to claim every reward otherwise.
Here are all Ultra Unlock: Paldea Paid Timed Research tasks:
- Send 9 gifts to friends: Incubator x1
- Walk 1 km: Pawmi
- Use 9 Berries to help catch Pokémon: Silver Pinap Berry x10
- Walk 3 km: Pawmi
- Catch 9 different species of Pokémon: Rare Candy x3
- Complete all tasks in this step: XP x9,210, Stardust x921, and Pawmi Backpack (Avatar Item) x1
Purchasing this Paid Timed Research is not recommended, unless you’re 100% sure you’d buy the Pawmi Backpack anyways once it hits the in-app store. Otherwise, this is not a package that provides enough value to justify a price tag of $5.
As you can see, only Pawmi can be encountered through research tasks during this event. On top of that, it appears in the wild together with Nymble and Frigibax, though the latter is a rare spawn. You can obtain Frigibax through 10 km Eggs as well. Bombirdier is available from 3-Star Raids.
