Pokémon Scarlet & Violet is an excellent game, marred by a selection of technical issues that plague the experience pretty much constantly. It’s tough to not feel like there’s something wonderful bubbling away underneath surface-level visual bugs, stutters, and a general lack of polish. But some of these issues are helpful, like the double run speed glitch, or the hill climb bug.

The Pokémon game, though? It’s more fun than ever to explore the world while breeding and raising rare Pokémon, and to make the experience even easier, you can now duplicate items. Thanks to a newly discovered bug, as outlined by YouTuber DrWater, you can speed up the process of raising and evolving rare Pokémon, and all you need to do is read through our explanation below.

Item duplication glitch – Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Before you get started, it’s important to note that you will need to ensure you have plenty of empty slots in Box 1 of your Pokémon Storage, and you will also need to have either Koraidon or Miraidon in Battle Form in your active team. You won’t be able to catch the Legendary Pokémon until the Scarlet & Violet post-game, so make sure you’ve finished your main adventure and make sufficient progress first.

Once all that is done, you can dupe items in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet by following these steps:

  1. Give Koraidon or Miraidon the item you want to clone.
  2. Press the + button to ride Koraidon or Miraidon and then again to dismount.
  3. Change Koraidon or Miraidon back to Battle Form.
  4. Catch a wild Pokémon and add it to your active team, selecting Koraidon's or Miraidon's spot.
  5. Press the A and B buttons almost simultaneously, but start with A.
  6. In the ensuing dialog, decide to store the item in the bag.
  7. Press the + button to ride Koraidon or Miraidon and then again to dismount.
  8. Open Box 1 and replace the freshly caught Pokémon with the now-cloned version of Koraidon or Miraidon.
  9. Give the cloned Koraidon or Miraidon the item you want to duplicate.
  10. Select the cloned Koraidon or Miraidon in your team overview and transform it to the Riding Form.
  11. Open Box 1 again and press the X button twice to return to Team 1.
  12. Press the L button to open the box with Koraidon or Miraidon holding the cloned item.
  13. Select the Pokémon and choose the option to put the item away.
  14. Repeat steps 8 through 13 to continue cloning the held item.

You will inevitably have excess cloned Pokémon once this process is finished. Luckily you can pack them away by putting five into your team, and then a regular monster. Switch from Riding Form to Battle Form, and each time you do so a clone should disappear.

You can use this trick to get multiples of rare items, like Tera Shards, or Herb Mystica, which could speed up your shiny hunting.
