Pokemon Scarlet & Violet DLC: how to catch Bloodmoon Ursaluna

How to find and catch Bloodmon Ursaluna in The Teal Mask Pokémon DLC

Among the strange new Pokémon in The Teal Mask DLC is a brand new form for Ursaluna, a Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. This Bloodmoon form looks far more vicious than the standard one and even comes with its own unique signature move. However, it’s not an easy catch, as you’ll have to complete a small questline to do so.

We’ll talk you through the whole process so you can catch your very own Bloodmoon Ursaluna. This isn’t the only new Pokémon you can find though; check out our guide on how to get Dipplin in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

Perrin’s side quest – The Teal Mask Pokémon DLC

Pokémon SV DLC Perrin

You can find Perrin on the west side of Mossui Town, where they'll introduce themselves and ask you to fill in 150 entries in your Kitakami Pokédex. This may sound like a lot, but if you’ve filled in your Paldean Pokédex from the main game, then you should already have roughly 90 Pokémon registered.

Once you’ve done that, Perrin will tell you to meet them at the Timeless Woods where they'll wait for you if you want to do the DLC’s main story first. Head there and you’ll begin your next step.

Taking photos for Perrin’s survey – The Teal Mask

Pokémon SV DLC photo survey Illumise

Find Perrin on the south side of the area and they’ll set up a tent, waiting for a foggy night. When one arrives, they'll give you her camera and task you surveying the area. You’ll have to take photos of ten different Pokémon which you can find around the area on the ground, in caves, and up in the trees.

Once you’ve found all of them, return to Perrin and it’ll be time to take on the Bloodmoon Beast.

How to catch Bloodmoon Ursaluna – The Teal Mask

Pokémon SV DLC Bloodmoon Ursaluna battle

Before you can catch Ursaluna you’ll have to battle it. It’ll have an extended health bar, much like the Titan Pokémon from the main game. You won’t be able to catch it during this battle, so don’t worry about accidentally KOing it. Once you’ve reduced its HP to zero, you’ll be prompted to throw a Pokéball, and you can catch Ursaluna with a 100% catch rate.

Ursaluna is a Ground/Normal-type Pokémon that has access to the signature move: Blood Moon. This is a 140-power Normal-type move that can’t be used twice in a row. This may not sound all that great, but it’s made all the better by Ursaluna’s ability: Mind’s Eye, which prevents its accuracy from being lowered and allows it to hit Ghost-types with Normal and Fighting-type moves.
