Resident Evil 4’s brand-new remake is a bombastic experience, and the action ramps up in Chapter 5 when you finally have Ashley at your side. This chapter culminates in the iconic cabin siege section, and it’s a fight to remember.

Return to the village – RE4 Remake

The first thing you need to do is escape the Church with Ashely, which might be harder than you initially think. Ganados will invade the Church, but you can get out through the roof by having Ashley bring down a ladder. You’ll find yourselves at the rear of the Church, and you need to go down to the front where you’ll find a Ganado onslaught. Get ready to use the shotgun to keep them back, and remember that you can use Flash Grenades to get rid of plagas.

This is also a good opportunity to tell Ashley to either follow you or stay back with L3. Test it out!

Once you get through the crowd, you’ll find yourself back at Town Hall. When you pass the merchant, make sure to pick up the A Savage Mutt request on the wall.

When back in the village, you will also be able to access the locked building with Ashley, and even return to the Mayor’s House, but the main goal is the Extraction Point, which is beyond the Farm area, so that’s where we’re going. 

Head to the Extraction Point – RE4 Remake

The village will be filled with brand new enemies, and so will the Farm, so make sure to stay on your toes. If you want to complete the request you picked up, now is the time to follow our A Savage Mutt request guide. Oh, you can find a Clockwork Castellan while on the way, too.

There’s even a tough bullhead enemy in the Farm area, so you’ll need to be ready to go against them. Remember: the shotgun is your friend.

Once you’re through the Farm and crossing the bridge toward the Extraction Point, Luis will shout to you – just in time, as a huge Ganado horde is chasing you. Yep, this is where the cabin siege begins.

Surviving the Cabin Siege – RE4 Remake

First, choose one window, break it, and start shooting down enemies. Leave the other windows for now. As one breaks, make sure to cover it with a bookcase. You will also find wooden planks – you can use these to cover windows and slow the encroaching horde. But you don’t want to stop them entirely – you will only get through if you fight, after all. 

Stay mobile, and tap R3 when prompted by Luis to have him throw you some ammunition. Be brave about using grenades at close range, and use melee attacks as often as possible.

Eventually, Luis will prompt you to move upstairs, where you should quickly push down the ladders that are propped up against the broken wall, and against the balcony at the side of the upper floor to slow them down.

Finally, when you’ve taken down enough foes, Ashley will burst a door open and call to you. This cutscene signals the end of Chapter 5 – nice work. On to our Resident Evil 4 remake Chapter 6 walkthrough.
