Best Scarlet & Violet Tera Raid Pokemon: 5 best monsters for 6-Star Raids
Pokémon Scarlet & Violet has a lot to offer trainers that love to raise and breed Pokémon, training them to be the most powerful that the game has to offer, and catching the rarest creatures in the game. Away from IVs and EVs, Scarlet & Violet now has players thinking about the Tera Type of their Pokémon too, and to get the best Tera Types possible, you usually have to go fight in Tera Raids.
Tera Raids see you and three other players fight against a single Pokémon with the chance of catching it at the end. These Raid Pokémon are incredibly strong, and will often require the full might of four skilled trainers with correctly chosen creatures to get the job done. If you need some help picking your own monsters for Tera Raids, just take a look at our guide below.
Gholdengo – Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
Just to get a single Gholdengo you need to amass a total of 999 Gimmighoul coins. That’s a tall order, as you’ll be lucky to find more than 100 in a long play session without specifically seeking them out. But if you manage to get what you need, you’ll find Gholdengo is an excellent Tera Raid fighter.
Good As Gold prevents all status conditions and stats from being lowered, which is a massive boon in Raids. Pair that with the Shield Ability, and you have one of the toughest Pokémon possible for this scenario.
Use moves like Metal Sound and Nasty Plot to take down the enemy stats, and then finish the job with Shadow Ball or Flash Cannon. For the perfect Gholdengo, follow our build below:
Ghouldengo - Level 100
- Nature - Modest, Special Attack and HP invested
- Ability - Good as Gold
- Item - Ability Shield
- Tera-type - Steel (or Ghost)
- Moves - Metal Sound, Nasty Plot, Shadow Ball, Recover
Azumarill – Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
We’ve mentioned Azumarill a few times, and it’s easy to see why. Fairy-types are tough, and Water is a great pairing. If you’re willing to use a Mirror Herb and breed with a Hariyama, you can get an Azumarill with Belly Drum, which is incredibly tough.
Azumarill - Level 100
- Nature - Adamant, Attack and HP invested
- Ability - Huge Power
- Item - Shell Bell
- Tera-type - Fairy (or Water)
- Moves - Reflect (physical raids)/ Light Screen (special raids), Aqua Ring, Belly Drum, Play Rough/ Aqua Tail (depending on raid type)
Iron Hands – Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
Another Belly Drum user, Paradox Pokémon Iron Hands is great for Tera Raids thanks to a strong defence stat and lots of HP to use. Drain Punch will also help this creature survive for longer.
Iron Hands - Level 100
- Nature - Careful, Special Defence and HP invested
- Ability - Quark Drive
- Item - Big Root
- Tera-type - Fighting (or Electric)
- Moves - Belly Drum, Drain Punch, Heavy Slam, Electric Terrain
Flutter Mane – Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
Another solid Paradox Pokémon, Flutter Mane can’t increase its Special Attack, but it can decrease the opponent’s Special Defence, which is exactly what will help you get ahead.
Flutter Mane - Level 100
- Nature - Bold, Defence and HP invested
- Ability - Protosynthesis
- Item - Booster Energy
- Tera-type - Fairy (or Ghost)
- Moves - Fake Tears, Moonblast, Shadow Ball, Wish
Miraidon – Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
Finally, Miraidon is a slightly better choice than its cousin Koraidon, but it cannot be used in 7-Star Raids. Still, this creature has great Attack and Defence, while Electro Drift can deal massive damage if it’s a Super Effective hit.
Miraidon - Level 100
- Nature - Modest, Special Attack and HP invested
- Ability - Hadron Engine
- Item - Ability Shield
- Tera-type - Electric
- Moves - Metal Sound, Electro Drift, Electric Terrain, Parabolic Charge (for healing)
