Warhammer 40K: Darktide’s Veteran is a former member of the forces of the Imperium of Mankind – just an innocent man tasked with fighting against the hellspawn that the Warp spews out. Gross, honestly. Now just a normal bloke, the Veteran uses his skills and experience to defend the God-Emperor on the frontlines.

If you want to arm the Veteran to be incredibly powerful, with the best feats, weapons, and Curios possible, just read through our guide below, and you’ll become a strong Veteran player in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.

Veteran best feats – Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

Every five levels classes will be granted access to three new feats to add to your build, and your decisions can be changed at any time so that you can adjust your build freely. We’ve listed the Veteran's best feats below.

  • Level 5 – (2) Exhilarating Takedown: 20% toughness is restored when you take out an enemy with a ranged weak point hit.
  • Level 10 – (1) Demolition Stockpile: Every 60 seconds, one of your grenades is restocked.
  • Level 15 – (1) Bio-Optic Targeting: Volley Fire designates non-Ogryn elites and specialists as priority targets for all players near you.
  • Level 20 – (2) Duck and Dive: Dodge, sprint, or slide to avoid ranged attacks grants you 20% stamina.
  • Level 25 – (2) Deadshot: You have a 25% increased critical hit chance and 60% stagger reduction, but lose 10% stamina per second when using the weapon in alternate fire mode.
  • Level 30 – (2) Counterfire: 25% more weak point damage during the Volley Fire ability. Volley Fire also now designates all Scab Shooters as primary targets, and defeating a marked enemy during Volley Fire resets the duration.

Veteran best playstyle – Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

The Veteran is best used against ranged threats and specialists. You can stick to the rear of the group when moving through levels, keeping your eyes open for distant threats to take out before the battle gets underway. Volley Fire is the perfect ability for the job.

Volley Fire can take out Snipers in crowds, and as you levels up it only becomes more effective.

Make sure to take note of that Exhilarating Takedown feat from earlier – this is key for the Veteran, allowing him to pile up damage as long as you keep aiming for weak points and critical hits. Just don’t waste your valuable attacks and ammo of pesky Poxwalkers – save them for the big boys.

Veteran best weapons – Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

Take down big foes, fast.

While the Veteran starts out with the MG Infantry Lasgun – an excellent weapon, by the way – there are some other solid choices, including the Boltguns.

If you want a powerful melee weapon, look for a Power Sword or perhaps a Chainaxe.

Veteran best Curios – Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

Finally, your equipment should focus on buffing up your health and toughness, in addition to regenerating your combat ability as quickly as possible. These are the stats that the Veteran really needs in this build, and if you put everything together correctly, you’ll be able to wipe the floor with Nurgle’s hordes.
