Age of Wonders 4 has sold over 250,000 copies across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S in the first four days after its launch on May 2, 2023, Triumph Studios and Paradox Interactive have announced. The 4X strategy game is selling faster than any of its predecessors. That tendency was already clear right after the title’s release, as game director Lennart Sas told GLHF in an interview on May 4, but now there are numbers to confirm it.

In a press release, Sas stated: “It’s incredible to see what the reception has been from both series veterans and brand-new players. We’re all loving the custom factions our fans are sharing, the clever strategies and guides that are popping up, and the wonderful, kind words we’ve seen in reviews and social media. All of us at Triumph are going to keep supporting Age of Wonders 4 with more content and updates, and we hope you’re ready for it!”

Age of Wonders 4 has been sitting among the top-sellers on Steam in the past few days, being a steady presence in the platform’s top 50 played games since launch.

Paradox CEO Fredrik Wester pointed out the great synergy between Triumph’s series and the publisher’s other franchises: “Longtime Paradox fans have identified a number of ways in which the game draws inspiration from other Paradox titles, but Age of Wonders 4 retains Triumph’s signature style and perfect blend of strategy, role-playing, and fantasy storytelling from start to finish. It’s a wonderful testament to how our two companies match, right down to the DNA.”

Age of Wonders 4 will be expanded through several upcoming content packs, the first of which is called Dragon Dawn and will land this summer.
