Asgard’s Wrath 2, a new VR RPG available exclusively for the Meta Quest, will be released on December 15, 2023, and revealed its launch trailer at The Game Awards 2023. Showcasing a highlight reel of the player battling fantasy monsters, climbing ancient buildings, and interacting with NPCs, the video gave Meta Quest owners a taste of what awaits them on this adventure. Voice actor Matt Mercer, who plays Loki in the game, did the honors of presenting the trailer.

Asgard’s Wrath 2 is the sequel to the 2019 original, which reached a score of 88 on Metacritic and was nominated as the Best VR Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2019, being lauded as the most ambitious and well-executed game of its kind up to this point – the upcoming title has big shoes to fill.

According to the official description, the new game features open areas to explore, large-scale puzzles to solve, and over 100 hours of content altogether. Landscapes from the deserts of old Egypt to the snowed-in mountains and forests of Scandinavia will be available for players to discover. Asgard’s Wrath 2 promises intense battles with gods and creatures of myth, which will adapt to what the player is doing by changing their battle tactics on the fly.

For a limited time after launch, a bundled version of the Meta Quest 3 will be available that has Asgard’s Wrath 2 included with the headset, so this seems like a good time for anyone already interested in the hardware to get into it.

Asgard’s Wrath 2 is being developed and published by Meta’s Oculus Studios, which acquired the makers of the original game, Sanzaru Games, in 2020 as one of its first-party developers.
