Xbox revealed on Tuesday a new Special Edition controller for Xbox consoles and PC. The Xbox Wireless Controller – Gold Shadow Special Edition is a new design inspired by the Xbox One Shadow series of controllers.
Pre-orders on the new controller design are now open. Retailing for $69.99, the Gold Shadow controller will start shipping on October 17, 2023.

The Gold Shadow Special Edition controller sports a stylish gold-to-black gradient look with metallic finish, a gold D-pad, and glossy black face buttons.
The bottom side of the controller is all in carbon black, featuring rubberized grips and textured triggers for extra control. The diamond-pattern rubber finish is of higher quality compared to the plasticky grips found on the standard issue Xbox controllers.
Just like any other Xbox controller, it comes with a 3.5mm jack to plug in headphones, as well as Bluetooth connectivity that works with Xbox consoles, PCs, and other devices, such as iOS and Android phones and tablets.
Even if you're playing on a PC and swear by your mouse and keyboard, a controller can be a must-have peripheral, as some games just play better with analog sticks, triggers, and a D-pad. Some very situational but "crucial" in-game tasks may also require a controller, such as the recent Starfield ship duplication glitch that can give players infinite money in the game.
Xbox and PC players looking for a new exclusive design to add to their collection, can pre-purchase directly from Xbox.com and other retailers in select markets. The latest special edition controller is not yet available from Amazon, and there are no details on specific retailers that will offer it, apart from the Microsoft Store.
Meanwhile, you can check out another special edition Xbox controller for your collection, such as the Daystrike Camo Special Edition controller from Amazon, which features a red camouflage pattern. If you're feeling nostalgic, the Phantom Black Special Edition for Xbox One, which sports a similar but translucent design, can still be found new on Amazon, for a heftier price, that is.
