Helldivers 2 players are about to wipe the Automatons off the galactic map

And nothing – absolutely nothing – could go wrong with that

Arrowhead

What a triumphant week it has been for the brave forces of Super Earth in Helldivers 2 – on the Automaton front, victory followed victory. Planets like the iconic Malevelon Creek were liberated from the yoke of the bots and a free cape was given out to all players in remembrance of those who have fallen in the struggle for the planet. A counterattack by the Automatons, which saw the introduction of gunships and walkers to the battlefield on their side, have been repelled.

All that’s left is to finish them off – and High Command has now given the next Major Order, directing all Helldivers to do just that. Tibit, Durgen, and Maia are the only remaining worlds occupied by the Automatons and have been declared high-priority targets.

With Super Earth’s forces being unstoppable, there is no way this could go wrong. It’s foolproof. The Automatons are finished. It’s Automatover.

Unless, of course, you’re aware of the things data miners have found in the Helldivers 2 files – those dark secrets waiting to be unveiled to the world. If you want to be cursed by this spoilery knowledge, do read on – but fortify your patriotic courage, for it will be a difficult read.

The following sections of this article contain potential story spoilers. Please read at your own discretion.

Recently, data miners found a yet-to-be-aired news broadcast, which describes an Automaton surprise attack on Cyberstan – the planet where the Cyborgs, creators of the Automatons, are currently imprisoned. Whether this will lead to Cyborgs becoming their own, full-fledged faction on the map or perhaps joining up with the Automatons is still up in the air, though.

In any case, the discovery of this news broadcast makes it clear that the Automatons probably aren’t quite as finished as it appears – in fact, this may be a tactical retreat to lure the Helldivers deeper into their territory, making it easier for them to strike the now undefended Cyberstan.

Helldivers 2 game master Joel is a cunning strategist and will understand that the further he pulls back the front, the more difficult it will be for the Helldivers to react to an attack at their rear – and that move will likely be made when the Helldivers are close to completely wiping the Automatons out. It’ll be a maneuver that creates the maximum amount of shock and awe.
