League of Legends update 13.8: patch notes
League of Legends, as it often does, has now had another patch hit the scene, bringing the version number up to 13.8 and bringing a host of nerfs, buffs, and changes across the board. It’s not the biggest patch in recent history – or the funniest – but it does make some key changes to various items and characters.
Much of the changes introduced in 13.8 are aimed at tweaking some of the changes made in previous patches, in particular some pretty heavy tweaks to Cosmic Drive.

LoL 13.8: Cosmic Drive tweaks
Cosmic Drive had its stats shuffled around in a previous update, and immediately became one of the most popular items in high-level play. Now, Riot seems to be aiming to make Cosmic Drive a little more accessible, effectively lowering the skill floor needed to use it effectively.
The AP of the item has been bumped up to 100, while its passive has been switched to Spelldance. Spelldance stacks movement speed buffs whenever you land a hit on an enemy champion, turning any mage into a speedy spell slinger.
LoL 13.8: balance changes
As with just about every patch, a number of champions have been nerfed and buffed in League of Legends 13.8. The following characters have all had buffs of various kinds:
- Ezreal
- Garen
- Janna
- Kha’zik
- Kog’maw
- Leona
- Lillia
- Nidalee
- Poppy
When one door closes, another one opens, and it’s much the same in League of Legends: when one champion is buffed, another must be nerfed. The following characters have been bumped down slightly for being just a little too strong:
- Aurelion Sol
- Jarvain IV
- Kayn
- Malphite
- Rakan
LoL 13.8: match history reporting
An addition that frankly should have been in the game long before now, you can finally report a player after a match has ended in the match history menu. All you have to do is view your past game summaries, and from there you can report any player, ally or otherwise, who participated in the match.
LoL 13.8: news skins and chromas
It wouldn’t be a League of Legends update without the addition of some fancy new cosmetics to spruce up your match. Four new skins were added in the League of Legends 13.8 update:
- Dawnbringer Renekton
- Dawnbringer Vayne
- Nightbringer Jarvan IV
- Nightbringer Nasus
Each of these four skins also brings with it nine chromas, which change the look – usually just the color schemes – of the skin.
