League of Legends’ April Fool’s mode turns the MOBA on its head

The League of Legends April Fool’s mode is live for a limited time, turning the multiplayer game on its head, and Riot Games teased some fluffy skins for free as well. From now until the start of April 3, 2023, you can queue up for Blind Pick Normal games and get a taste of the temporary mayhem.

During these matches, the Rift Scuttler has developed a grudge against you, and if you linger too long near the river, you might get shanked by the angry Stabby Crabby. Hat-wearing minions spawn across the arena. You can make their hats your own and wander around with a stack of them, but if an enemy defeats you, they take your hats too.

Herds of poro stampede across the arena, offering a small health boost to anyone who manages to capture one, while towers will mock with emotes if they help defeat you. If that's not enough, you can also take advantage of new Hexgates opening around the arena at random - if you're brave enough. Not every gate is there to help you.

The fun only lasts for a weekend, but LoL patch 13.7 is coming up just a few days later, on April 5, 2023. Alongside the tweaks and other additions Riot has planned is a set of free fluffy skins: Shiba Yuumi, Woof and Lamb Kindred, Kibble-Head Kled and Kittalee Nidalee.
