The Dune TTRPG studio is making a Mass Effect board game

A co-op campaign set during Mass Effect 3

Modiphius, makers of hit tabletop games Fallout Factions and Dune: Adventures in the Imperium, are creating a Mass Effect board game. It’s called… well, the Mass Effect Board Game, and the RPG adaptation should release sometime in August 2024.

Crazy Rich Asians writer Calvin Wong Tze Loon and Blood Rage designer Eric Lang are co-developing the board game, which is set during the events of Mass Effect 3.

"On the remote world Hagalaz, a research cruiser from the terrorist organization Cerberus has crashed directly in the path of a deadly storm,” the official description reads. “With little time before the storm hits, Shepard must lead their squad through the cruiser to uncover its sinister secrets and keep them out of the hands of the enemy. However, the ship holds more dangers than just its former crew. Deep within the shattered cruiser stir creatures and enemies far worse than the Cerberus forces that guard them."

Modiphius says on the product page that the Mass Effect board game features a branching narrative with several RPG systems, including customizable abilities for Shepard and friends and new skills that unlock as you level up. The choices you make early in the game influence how the campaign unfolds, and companions also have loyalty quests similar to those in the Mass Effect trilogy, though Modiphius didn’t say how those work.

Modiphius also didn’t say how many Mass Effect 3 allies will join the ride, but the studio teased Liara, Tali, Wrex, and Garrus as some of the accompanying characters.

That’s about all Modiphius had to share at this point, though with an anticipated release just a few months away, you can expect more news soon.
