The Pokémon Presents livestream on Pokémon Day 2023 had lots of goodies for the brand’s fans in store, such as the announcement of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC coming later this year. There was plenty of news from other video games and from outside the digital space as well, though, so let’s dive into what the event had in store.

All news from Pokémon Presents on February 27, 2023

The Pokémon World Championships will be held in Yokohama, Japan, this year. Running from August 11 to 13, they feature competitions in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Pokémon Go, and Pokémon Unite.

Speaking of Pokémon Unite, Zacian has been newly added to the arena brawler. You can get it for free by playing the Adventure in Zacian’s Weald event available in the game right now. There is also a new promo code for Pokémon Unite, which gets you some in-game rewards – POKEMONDAY.

Pokémon Café Remix and Pokémon Masters EX get new content as well: A Paldea-themed event in Café Remix allows you to choose one of the region’s three starter Pokémon for your staff, while some of Galar’s most notorious trainers are coming to Masters EX with the Kanto birds’ Galarian forms.

Pokémon Sleep is a new sleep-tracking app coming out this year.

Pokémon Sleep has been announced as an upcoming gamified sleep tracker, which will share some functionality with Pokémon Go in the future, though it’s not clear how that will look like. For now, both apps will be able to use the newly revealed Go Plus+ gadget. Connecting Pokémon Go to Pokémon Sleep will also unlock a Special Research in the mobile game, which features Snorlax with a new hat.

The Go Plus+ is the successor to the Go Plus gadget.

Go Plus+ enables you to spin PokéStops and catch Pokémon without using your phone. A new feature compared to the original device is the ability to choose Great Balls and Ultra Balls over using Pokéballs. It will be available on July 14, 2023.

Pokémon Go can also be connected with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet now, allowing you to send postcards to your Scarlet and Violet game and encounter Vivillon there. Its wing pattern is going to depend on the origin of the postcard, just like in Pokémon Go. In return, you will receive coins to evolve Roaming Form Ghimmighoul, which joins Pokémon Go as its first Paldea Pokémon.

Outside the realm of video games, The Pokémon Company and Netflix have teamed up to produce a new stop-motion animation series called Pokémon Concierge, which follows the concierge at a Pokémon resort as he deals with his cute guests.

It has also been revealed that a Pokémon TCG Classic game set is being worked on, which will make available all cards from the original release of the TCG in a complete set alongside some markers and a mat to play on.
