Respawn Entertainment’s latest single-player title Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was the big star of EA’s most recent earnings call.

During the briefing, EA called the game a “commercial success” and a driving factor for strong quarterly earnings. “EA delivered a record Q1, driven by strong momentum in EA SPORTS global football and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor,” stated Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA. It has been noted that players are spending a lot more time with Survivor than predecessor Fallen Order, which makes sense given the greater scale of the sequel and seems to be a pleasant development in the publisher’s eyes.

It’s been announced that PS4 and Xbox One versions of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor are now in development, though a release date has not been communicated.

Happy news for owners of last-gen consoles: Survivor will be coming your way.

This development is quite surprising in many ways: Ahead of launch, the studio clearly stated that the title had been made with the superior technical capabilities of the current-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in mind. It’s also still performing less than stellar on PC, where the game’s launch has been a technical disaster, despite several updates attempting to remedy the situation. It’s going to be interesting how the developers will manage to port the title to less powerful platforms given these conditions.

Respawn already had its hands full in any case: Job postings suggest that a third Star Wars Jedi game is in development and the studio has previously been announced to be making a Star Wars first-person shooter under the leadership of Battlefront veteran Peter Hirschmann.

Respawn furthermore helps with the production of a Star Wars strategy game primarily developed by Bit Reactor, a studio formed by former Firaxis employees.
