Bethesda’s Starfield is very likely going to be one of 2023’s biggest releases overall and certainly for Xbox Series X|S. It seems completely logical for Microsoft to leverage that anticipation for the September 6, 2023, release date by launching a set of limited edition hardware as well, and now there seems to be some evidence pointing towards that.

A member of popular gaming forum ResetEra has found some pictures of the potential Starfield limited edition Xbox controller, which may accompany a similarly designed console edition, deep on the Chinese internet. Here’s an Imgur album with the four pictures they’ve discovered.

Held predominantly in white with some colorful stripes around the Xbox logo at the top, a golden directional pad, and red accents at the back and under the sticks, the controller looks classy and minimalistic. Visible all over the surface are lines and small bits of text akin to a cockpit’s user interface, so perhaps the design may even be inspired by the actual in-game UI we get when steering a starship through space.

There is definitely a possibility of this being a very well-made fake, but users on ResetEra – and our own Slack channel – fell in love at first sight with the design and certainly wouldn’t mind this being a real controller.

2023 has already seen some great game-themed hardware designs with Sony releasing a PS5 DualSense controller for Hogwarts Legacy and Nintendo pushing out a Switch OLED to go with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It would only be right and proper for Microsoft to join them with a celebratory Starfield design.

Things are still kept under wraps when it comes to the Skyrim developer’s new game, a reveal with more information coming in Summer. So far, we only know that the space RPG will feature some drug use, but no sex scenes, going by what the Australian Classification Board hard to say.
