Tales of Arise sold three million copies ahead of Xbox Game Pass launch
Tales of Arise joined the Xbox Game Pass library on February 20, 2024, and developer Bandai Namco had some good news to share with fans one day later: Tales of Arise sold three million copies in total since its launch in September 2021.
Given the fact that two million sales had been reached by April 2022 and the Tales franchise stood at 29.29 million units sold by March 2023, there is a good chance that Tales of Arise has pushed the series above 30 million sales overall in combination with sales from the back catalog.
Tales of Arise reached a big milestone ahead of joining Game Pass.

Tales of Arise already became the fastest-selling entry into the series by shipping over a million units in under a week after its release, managing to win the trophy for Best RPG at The Game Awards 2021.
Tales of Phantasia started the series back in 1995 and was considered as a pinnacle of the Super Famicom era, being released at the end of the device’s lifespan and fully utilizing the technical capabilities available at the time. Selling over a million copies in Japan, it spawned an entire franchise that is still alive and kicking as it nears its 30th anniversary.
Further longevity for the series should be guaranteed after Tales of Arise’s success, which has been hailed as the best entry into the series since the acclaimed Tales of Symphonia from 2003.
JRPGs have recently celebrated fantastic commercial success across the board with Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and Persona 3 Reload becoming the fastest-selling titles of their series. Tales of Arise is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Subscribers of Xbox Game Pass can play the game without purchasing it separately since February 20, 2024.
