The Total War: Warhammer 3 modding community never ceases to amaze and has yet again released another groundbreaking custom campaign for the strategy game. ChaosRobie and a crew of other talented creators have published The Old World Campaign, which is essentially the gigantic and much more detailed version of the campaign map from the original Total War: Warhammer game.

In Warhammer Fantasy, the Old World is basically the equivalent to real-life Europe. This was the region which Creative Assembly initially focused on for the first game in the trilogy, kicking things off with a region and factions most players would be relatively familiar with before stuff became more exotic in the second and third game.

Yeah, that's a big and scary forest you don't want to get lost in now.

Warhammer 2 and Warhammer 3 focused on different regions of the world, but introduced the Mortal Empires and Immortal Empires campaign maps as well, which combined all the current content from the trilogy on a single enormous world map. The impressive Immortal Empires Expanded mod went even further, making areas like Nippon and Khuresh playable.

In a way, ChaosRobie’s Old World is closing the circle, bringing players back to where everything started – but with a stark difference in scale.

666 settlements are present on this map, an absolutely massive amount of conquerable territory. A ton of brand-new factions has been added in this mod as well to populate all those lands. Fans of the setting will find many familiar names among the newcomers.

The Old World Campaign opens up a lot of new possibilities, especially in conjunction with some other popular mods out there. Players can finally fight for control of the vast forests in Bretonnia with the Wood Elves, Beastmen, Greenskins, and Bretonnians, or once again strive to unite the Empire as Karl Franz – only it takes you a lot more turns now, as there is a lot more ground to cover.

The Old World Campaign immediately joins the best Total War: Warhammer 3 mods, that’s for sure. While Creative Assembly is currently going through a difficult period after the cancellation of Hyenas, which may put the Total War: Warhammer 3 DLC roadmap into question, players will find continued entertainment in user-generated content.
