EA Sports FC 24 Ultimate Team: Evolutions guide
EA Sports FC 24 introduces something new for Ultimate Team players that is definitely worth checking out in the early game, but might feel a bit obscure at first. Evolutions are a brand-new way for you to upgrade your cards, allowing you to boost a player you enjoy using with some additional perks. This keeps them relevant for longer and you won’t have to worry about buying packs as often.
So, how do EA FC 24 Evolutions work, exactly? Ask yourself no longer, because we’ll guide you through the entire process below.

EA FC 24: how do Evolutions work?
EA Sports FC 24 Evolutions are easier than you might think and could even remind you of how Squad Building Challenges (SBCs) work. These are the three steps you need to take in order to fully take advantage of the Evolution system:
- Select Evolution – Assign a player from your club to an Evolution that features the upgrades that fit your needs.
- Complete Objectives – Level up by completing challenges in gameplay with that player.
- Upgrade player – Claim your rewards to evolve your player.
EA FC 24: how to complete Evolution objectives
First of all, it’s important to know that the number of challenges may change depending on the reward. The better the reward, the more challenges you need to complete in order to claim it. Makes sense, right?
Example: Founders Evolution
A good example of this is the Founders Evolution, which is an Exclusive Evolution Slot to level up a striker and is only available to the players who got Early Access through EA Play or the EA Sports FC 24 Ultimate Edition. It expires in December 2023 and features two challenges with the following upgrades:
- Level 1:
- Pace: +3
- Shooting: +3
- Level 2:
- Physical: +3
- Dribbling: +3
- Weak Foot: +1 Star
You need to win two Squad Battles or Rivals/Champions matches on at least Semi-Pro difficulty, using the player you want to evolve in those matches.
As you can see, the Founders Evolution provides quite a stat boost to Timo Werner here.

Just like SBCs, Evolutions have requirements you need to meet. Press X to select the player's Evolution preview and the game will tell you what you need to accomplish to complete the Evolution. In this case, you need:
- Overall: Max. 83
- Physical: Max. 86
- Position: ST
- Dribbling: Max. 83
- Pace: Max. 91
- Rarity: Rare
- Overall: Min. 75
You can search your clubs for players fitting these requirements. If you don’t have an eligible card, you’ll need to bug one on the transfer market or open a pack.
No eligible player? Better hit the transfer market or open a pack.

Depending on the Evolution, you’ve got between two weeks and three months to complete the process.
EA FC 24: Can I upgrade several Evolution cards at the same time?
An important thing to note is that you can select all the Evolutions you want, but you can only handle challenges for one of them at a time. When you initiate several Evolutions, the one you started first will remain your active one until it's completed or its duration runs out. Keeping your Evolution queue cleaned up is going to be an important part of Ultimate Team going forward, otherwise you’ll have to work through heaps of old challenges to get to the cool, new Evolution you just started.
Check the "My Evolutions" tab to see which Evolution challenge is currently active, in case you confused yourself. That’ll ensure that you can put the correct player into your starting eleven for the upcoming match and smoothly handle their upgrade process before moving on to the next.
