Much like in Breath of the Wild, if you want a bigger inventory in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’re going to need to find Korok Seeds and bring them to Hestu, who will give you an extra melee, ranged, or shield inventory slot for some of the seeds. There are 1,000 Korok Seeds to find in the game, so you won’t have trouble picking some up, but finding Hestu is a little troublesome, especially as he moves about from time to time.

We’ll tell you where to find Hestu and how to increase your inventory size.

Where to find Hestu – Zelda TOTK

Zelda TOTK Hestu location

If you follow what Purah recommends after the first few main quests and head northwest toward Rito Village, you should stumble upon Hestu soon enough. He is halfway up the hill that Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower sits atop.

He’ll be cowering from some nearby trees, which seems odd at first, until you approach them and they leap out to attack you. You’ll need either an axe weapon or fire to deal with these trees, and once you’ve taken them down, Hestu will offer to increase your inventory. The first one’s free, and he’ll do one more in exchange for Korok Seeds after that, then he moves to Lookout Landing.

He’ll stay here for a while, until you free Korok Forest, at which point he’ll move there for the rest of the game.

How to increase your inventory – Zelda TOTK

Zelda TOTK Weapon inventory

You can trade Korok Seeds to Hestu and he’ll give you one extra slot for either a melee weapon, a bow, or a shield. It’s up to you which one you get, but the price will increase every time you get an expansion. The first will cost just one seed, the next will cost two, then three, then five, and so on.

Here are the maximum number of slots you can have:

  • 19 Swords (plus an extra slot when you get the Master Sword)
  • 20 Shields
  • 14 Bows (plus an extra slot for arrows)
