Once you’ve completed Tears of the Kingdom’s Wind Temple, you can return to Rito Village without freezing your breeches off. While there, you can pick up a quest called The White Bird’s Guidance from a villager called Laissa.

She tells you about a cave she happened to find when chasing a white bird she saw sitting atop the shadow of Vah Medoh’s perch in the early morning. Here’s how to find the cave and complete the shrine inside it.

TOTK The White Bird’s Guidance

Make a little campfire at the top of Vah Medoh's perch to wait until the morning in TOTK's The White Bird's Guidance quest.

If you follow the clues given to you by Laissa, you’ll want to scale Vah Medoh’s perch, which is the rock jutting out of the peak of Rito Village. It’s a long way up and you can’t use Ascend for the entire climb, so make sure you have some stamina potions or meals if you’re doing it the traditional way.

Once you reach the summit, throw down some wood and flint, then hit the flint with your sword and start a fire. You need to wait by the fire until morning so the shadow of the perch is in the right place.

If you want to skip all of that, the shrine location is in the map image below.

Wao-os Shrine solution

The shrine message when you enter, as always, gives you a clue as to what you need to do inside. The Wao-os shrine is all about “Lever Power”, so think leverage. You have to make the metal sphere hit the two targets: lower one first, higher one second.

Here’s how to do it, step-by-step:

  • Using Ultrahand, glue the ball cup to the end of the plank, on the side where you are standing.
  • Place the ball into the cup, but don’t attach it.
  • Pick up the heavy box with Ultrahand and drop it from a height on the other side of the plank.

Here’s how that should look:

Attach the ball cup on the left, pop the ball in, then drop the box from the right.

Attach the ball cup on the left, pop the ball in, then drop the box from the right.

This opens up a gate close to you with a wooden plank inside it.

  • Take the new plank and attach it to the end of the other plank, on the side where you’re standing.
  • Remove the ball cup and place it on the end of the new plank.
  • Take place the ball into the ball cup – no glue!
  • Drop the box on the other side of the plank from a height.

Here’s how this one should look:

Extend the plank on the left side to create more leverage.

Now you just need to get yourself across, so stand in the ball cup and drop the box on the other side of the plank, catapulting yourself through the air.

Now it's your turn to fly!
