Epic Games is releasing another update for battle royale hit Fortnite, with the full patch notes for version 23.30 revealing a whole bunch of new content for players to enjoy.

First and foremost, of course, come new crossovers – the game’s bread and butter. Geralt of Rivia, star of the Witcher franchise, finally makes his appearance in Fortnite. Anime fans can also rejoice, for more Dragon Ball content has arrived as well.

The developers have also rolled back a controversial change around Weekly Quests, which had the community up in arms – a protest that ended in success, at least temporarily.

With Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 slated to end in March 2023, we’re entering the final stretch for updates in the current season.

Fortnite v23.30 update: patch notes

Geralt of Rivia in Fortnite.

Time to go on the hunt with Geralt.

The Witcher’s Geralt arrives in Fortnite

We already knew that Geralt of Rivia, the mighty witcher, would arrive in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1’s battle pass, but so far players were unable to unlock this highly-anticipated skin. Though the battle pass officially states that Geralt will be available from February 7, 2023, the early unlocking of popular items is nothing new.

To unlock Geralt in Fortnite, you’ll need to buy the battle pass and complete a few quests. Additional rewards will unlock in the coming weeks, which may include an alternate style for the outfit that is inspired by Henry Cavill’s look as Geralt in Netflix’ The Witcher series.

Dragon Ball returns to Fortnite

After a very popular first crossover with Dragon Ball, Fortnite brings the anime series back for another round of making some money together – this time, Dragon Ball Super will be the focus.

Piccolo and Son Gohan are featured as skins, while the Kamehameha, Nimbus Cloud, and Dragon Ball Adventure Island return from the previous collaboration. You’ll also be able to complete some Dragon Ball-themed quests to earn additional rewards such as the Gohan Beast.

Epic rolls back changes to Weekly Quests

A previous decision by Epic Games to have Weekly Quests expire each week when a new set of challenges was revealed turned out to be quite unpopular among the community, as it was seen as a way to reduce the amount of XP players could earn.

Seeing the outrage this has caused, the studio confirmed that the system will stay as it was, with all Weekly Quests remaining available until the end of the ongoing season:

"From v23.30 and onwards, Battle Royale Chapter 4 Season 1 Weekly Quests will no longer expire after a week. They will remain until the end of Season, meaning players can complete a set of Weekly Quests anytime until Chapter 4 Season 1's end date."

New Reality Augments in Fortnite

Update 23.30 added the following Reality Augments to the game:

  • Shadow Striker: Become able to find Shadow Bombs from containers.
  • Rift-jector Seat: Anytime your shield breaks, you’ll rift into the sky after a short delay.
  • Icy Slide: Gain a brief icy speed boost briefly after sliding.
