Blizzard outlines Overwatch 2 Season 10 changes to Mythics and heroes

Including easier hero unlocks and more Mythics

Overwatch 2 Season 10 is still a ways off, but Blizzard has some big plans in store for the multiplayer game, including easier ways to get Mythics and new heroes. The team also reconfirmed in the new blog post that Venture, the game’s 40th hero, will join the roster in Season 10.

Everyone can unlock Venture automatically, just by playing. One of Overwatch 2 Season 10’s big changes is removing the barriers to recruiting new heroes. Since Overwatch 2 launched in 2022, you’d have to either purchase the battle pass or grind through a set of challenges to add the likes of Kirko, Junker Queen, and Illari to your ranks. Starting in Season 10, everyone gets all the heroes automatically, though new players still have to finish the game’s onboarding tutorials first.

Blizzard’s also changing how you can earn Mythic skins, the customizable cosmetics that typically sit at tier 80 of the paid battle pass. Season 10 adds the Mythic Shop, which has a couple of functions. One is, unsurprisingly, a shop, where you can buy Mythics from previous seasons. Mythic skins will turn up in the shop two seasons after their debut – so, for example, you can expect Season 10’s Mythic in Season 12.

The other function gives you more control over when you earn Mythics and how much of them you get. Blizzard said you can work toward past and present Mythic skins in the current battle pass, and you can “build” toward parts of it that you want – new patterns, for example, or different color palettes. The idea is that you won’t have to waste progress and time getting something you don’t care about.

Speaking of shops, Blizzard is giving a slight boost to the number of coins you can earn each season just by playing, up to 600 from 540.

Finally, Blizzard is adding a limited-time trial of Clash mode in Season 10 on the new Hanaoka map and promised a new Push map called Runasapi and a Colosseo rework for Season 11. Dorado, Circuit Royale, Havana, and Numbani are undergoing revisions as well, though those are planned for later in 2024.

Meanwhile, the Overwatch 2 Cowboy Bebop collaboration is still going on, if you’re keen to get any of the crossover skins, including the adorable free Ein Wrecking Ball skin.
