If you want a little throwback, you can actually find the Cap of the Wind from Wind Waker in Tears of the Kingdom. It might not offer a great deal of protection and it doesn’t have any special properties, but it does flop serenely in the breeze. Ah, lovely.

To find it, you’ll need to brave the Depths, so make sure you bring some Brightbloom Seeds along for the ride. Throw these or fire them on an arrow and they’ll blossom and glow, lighting up the deep dark. It’s a bit of a trek, so bring plenty. Oh, and some Bomb Flowers and a hammer or three. Good? Good!

Where is the Cap of the Wind TOTK?

Head to Tingel Island in TOTK to start your search for the Cap of the Wind.

Head to Tingel Island in TOTK to start your search for the Cap of the Wind.

You’ll need to head to Tingel Island to start with. This is the northmost island on the east edge of the map. You can reach it by traversing the other two islands nearby and using the log bridges that connect them together.

When you reach Tingel Island, dive down into the depths and start exploring.

Unlike most other areas in The Depths, this section is largely linear. Keep throwing Brightbloom Seeds and making your way through a series of destructible walls. Use Bomb Flowers and hammers to mine your way deeper and deeper.

You know you're onto something in Tears of the Kingdom when you find a blue wall.

Eventually, you’ll hit a destructible wall that’s different from the others. It’s blue. Weird.

Smash through that and you’ll come to the room housing the chest.

The room where you find the Cap of the Wind in Tears of the Kingdom can get a bit handsy.

Open it and the Cap of the Wind is yours.

Do be careful, though, as some grabby demon hands will spawn and attempt to murder you, which just isn’t very nice when you think about it. Maybe save the game before you get the Wind Waker hat, eh?
