How to cook Sunny Veggie Porridge for the Gloom Borne Illness quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Kakariko Village’s clothing shop in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is home to two great armor sets. Both the Stealth Armor and the Radiant Armor can be found in this shop, but when you first arrive, you’re in for a rude awakening.

Each individual piece of the set costs 5,000 rupees to buy, that’s 30,000 rupees to buy them all, which is ludicrously expensive. Even following our rupee farming guide will struggle to get you that much. Thankfully, there is a way to lower the price. As the shopkeeper explains, their grandmother is deathly sick from the Gloom, and they need to up their prices to pay for the medicine.

How to start Gloom Borne Illness – Zelda TOTK

To start the quest, go up the road a bit and you’ll see a woman sitting under a shelter in front of a cooking station. All you need to do is ask her about the problem and she’ll tell you about a meal that could cure their grandmother.

How to complete Gloom Borne Illness – Zelda TOTK

You’ll need to cook up a Sunny Veggie Porridge, which is cooked using Hylian Rice, Fresh Milk, and Sundelion. Both the rice and milk can be bought from the general store in Hateno Village, but for the Sundelion, you’ll need to head skyward.

Sundelion is a reasonably common flora of the many sky islands hovering over Hyrule, but Yiga Clan members in the Depths also have a chance to drop one. It’s a very useful herb to hold onto anyway, as it cures Gloom when cooked into a dish.

Once you’ve gathered all three ingredients, cook them up and return to Kakariko Village. You’ll get a short cutscene where the grandma is healed and the prices in the clothing shop will return to normal. If you happened to buy any pieces while they were at the inflated price, you will be refunded the difference upon completing this quest.
