How to get Star Fragments – Zelda TOTK

Zelda TOTK Star Fragment on ground

Like in Breath of the Wild, Star Fragments randomly fall from the sky. However, unlike Breath of the Wild, they can fall during the day too in Tears of the Kingdom. When you see one land, it will shoot up a beacon of light up into the sky and you have a few minutes to go and grab it before it disappears.

Also, you’ll sometimes have them drop down alongside you as you’re skydiving, when this happens you can accelerate to catch it in mid-air or wait for it to land. Unfortunately, this is all entirely random, so there’s no way to force a spawn.

Zelda TOTK Star Fragment selling

While you can sell Star Fragments for 200 rupees a piece, you’re better off holding onto them for when you really need them. If you haven’t yet found the Miner’s outfit, then fusing one to your shield makes for a portable light source, and doing the same to a weapon will cause it to shoot out a beam of light.

Most prominently though, there are a select few armor pieces in the game that require Star Fragments for upgrading, most notably the circlets you can purchase in Gerudo Town. Given their relative rarity, it’s better you save your Star Fragments for these, rather than selling them or wasting them on weapons.
