HoYoverse just keeps dropping good news for Honkai: Star Rail players – and bad ones for their wallets: Blade has been revealed as an upcoming character for the RPG. His likeliest window of release is update 1.2, which is set to launch in July 2023. He may share this version with Kafka, a fellow member of the Stellaron Hunters and no less highly anticipated than Blade himself.

Blade is going to be a 5-Star character following the Path of the Destruction and dealing Wind Damage. HoYoverse describes him as such: “A swordsman who abandoned his body to become a blade. Birth name unknown. He pledges loyalty to Destiny's Slave, and possesses a terrifying self-healing ability. Blade wields an ancient sword riddled with cracks, just like his body and his mind.”

In short, he’s a sword-wielding edgelord with great looks, so he’s guaranteed to be incredibly popular among the player base.

That’s not all, however: In the final closed beta test, where Blade was already playable, he was absolutely cracked – a very powerful character that was hard to kill and dished out an amazing amount of damage. We’re definitely expecting his release version to be a little less potent in the interest of balance.

Before Blade – or Kafka, for that matter – will see the light of day, version 1.1 will have to come and go. A livestream revealing details around this upcoming update, which will feature Silver Wolf, Luocha, and Yukong as new playable characters, is scheduled to air on May 26, 2023.
