Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Indigo Disk DLC fulfills dreams with new features
It looks like Nintendo didn’t want The Game Awards to have all the glory of announcing cool video game stuff today. Debuting the final trailer for the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet & Violet DLC, The Indigo Disk, the company showcased some immense feature additions that fulfill long-held fan dreams.
Ever wanted to port your brain into a Pokémon to control directly or longed to find a Legendary strolling around in the open world of Paldea? Well, so did Game Freak’s developers, apparently. Here are the biggest new features revealed for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: The Indigo Disk.
Open-World Legendary Pokémon
Once you’ve got Indigo Disk, almost every Legendary Pokémon ever released will be available to you in the game – at least when you’ve finished the DLC’s main storyline as well as a quest line called Blueberry Quests for a dude called Snacksworth.
You should never simply accept snacks from a random stranger with a name like that, but Indigo Disk makes the risk worth it: Once you have snacked on those special treats, Legendary Pokémon will appear at specific locations in the open world of Paldea. That’s right, they’re just taking a stroll, waiting for you to battle and catch them.
Synchro Machine
The Synchro Machine is a nifty new piece of technology that allows you to port your brain into a Pokémon’s body, giving you total control over it. Basically, you can choose a Pokémon and then run around the wilderness with it, battle other creatures, and so on.
You’ll be able to gain access to the Synchro Machine by completing a new side quest in an area called the Terarium introduced in the DLC. Afterwards, it’ll be at your beck and call whenever and wherever you need it, even in Union Circles.
Free Flight
An improved flight mechanic has already been spotted in a preview version of the game, but it wasn’t quite clear if that was just a one-time gimmick for a specific challenge. As it turns out, that’s not the case: Unrestricted flight is a shiny new feature you can use in any context.
You’ll need to unlock this ability by playing through the DLC’s story, but once you’ve done so, you can take to the skies anywhere in the world.
There are lots more exciting additions, like the return of throwing styles, but the ones above will change up gameplay the most.
The Indigo Disk is launching on December 14, 2023, on Nintendo Switch.
