Slow down your opponents with the best Honkai: Star Rail Welt build and gain a huge tempo advantage for your team. Welt, who is also known as Mr. Yang to the crew of the Astral Express, follows the Path of the Nihility and deals Imaginary Damage, which makes him one of the rare sources of this Damage Type in the game’s release version. And don’t worry, despite the name Imaginary Damage still very much hurts the enemy.

Welt’s Skill, Edge of the Void, deals Imaginary Damage based on his Attack statto a single target, and then randomly damages two additional targets. Each hit has a chance of reducing the enemies’ Speed by 10%, potentially slowing down their next action and shuffling the turn order.

Honkai: Star Rail Welt.

Say "hi" to Welt, whom you may know from the other Honkai game.

His Ultimate, Synthetic Black Hole, deals Imaginary Damage to all opponents – once again based on his Attack stat – and is guaranteed to trigger the Imprisoned effect, which delays the target’s actions as well as reduces their Speed. Welt’s Talent, Time Distortion, helps him maximize his damage output by adding extra Imaginary Damage to hits against enemies that have already been slowed.

Welt’s Eidolon Levels, which get upgraded when you pull duplicates of him, focus on enhancing his damage output further after he activates his Ultimate. They provide his Skill with additional boons as well, increasing the chance of inflicting a Speed reduction and allowing it to hit another target. There is a useful bonus to his Talent as well, enabling it to regenerate Energy for Welt.

Honkai: Star Rail – Welt: best Light Cones

Welt has a signature Light Cone in Honkai: Star Rail, which goes by In the Name of the World – a little play on words here, as Welt simply means “world” in German. That aside, this Light Cone increases the wearer’s damage against debuffed targets significantly. It enhances their Skill as well, adding Effect Hit Rate and Attack boosts.

This allows Welt to apply his debuffs more consistently and add even more damage to targets he’s slowed down.

Best Light Cones for Welt:

  • In the Name of the World (5-Star)
  • We Will Meet Again (4-Star)
  • Resolution Shines as Perals of Sweat (4-Star)
  • Loop (3-Star)

Honkai: Star Rail – Welt: best Relics

Welt is a difficult one to pin down: He wants more Attack for sure, but Effect Hit Rate and Break Effect are important attributes for him to consider as well. Fortunately, there is a set of Planar Ornaments that streamlines this process a little bit, allowing you to convert Effect Hit Rate into Attack.

Best Relic Sets for Welt:

  • Wastelander of Banditry Desert (4) – +10% Imaginary Damage, +10% Critical Hit Rate, +20% Critical Hit Damage when attacking Imprisoned enemies.

Best Planar Ornaments for Welt:

  • Pan-Galactic Commercial Enterprise (2) – +10% Effect Hit Rate, Attack increases by up to 25% of Effect Hit Rate.

Prioritize the following Relic and Planar Ornament stats for Welt:

  • Head – HP (Primary), Break Effect %, Attack %, Effect Hit Rate %, Speed
  • Hands – Attack (Primary), Break Effect %, Attack %, Effect Hit Rate %, Speed
  • Body – Effect Hit Rate % (Primary), Break Effect %, Attack %, Speed, Critical Hit Damage or Critical Hit Rate
  • Feet – Speed (Primary), Attack %, Effect Hit Rate %, Break Effect %, Critical Hit Damage or Critical Hit Rate
  • Planar Sphere – Imaginary Damage % (Primary), Effect Hit Rate %, Speed, Attack %, Critical Hit Damage or Critical Hit Rate
  • Link Rope – Energy Regeneration % (Primary), Break Effect %, Attack %, Effect Hit Rate %, Speed

Honkai: Star Rail – Welt: best teams

Welt is a great asset for any team as he’s able to swing the momentum and turn order into your party’s favor, which is especially important if you don’t have Bronya available to you.

Welt is a fantastic addition to a team around Dan Heng, since the spearman deals increased damage against targets that are slowed down, making Welt’s debuffs not only useful for Welt himself. Adding Asta to that, who can buff your own crew's Speed, ensures that you have the clear tempo advantage. Bailu, Luocha, or Natasha are – as usual – your healers.

Of course, you can always replace them with a shielder like March 7th, in case they are not at your disposal. Tingyun or Yukong are a good replacement for Asta.

  • Dan Heng (Main DPS), Himeko (DPS), Welt (Support), March 7th (Support)

The Astral Express crew works together somewhat well, too. The synergy between Dan Heng and Welt remains unchanged, March 7th comes in as shielder, and Himeko benefits a lot from Dan Heng and Welt inflicting Weakness Breaks, as this will quickly charge up her Victory Rush.

Nihility teams with Welt, Silver Wolf, and Pela are quite potent as well, as you can stack lots of debuffs on your opponents.

Honkai: Star Rail – Welt: ascension materials

Here’s everything you need to know to get Welt ascended to the maximum level and upgrade all of his talents.

Welt requires the following ascension materials to get to level 80 in addition to the necessary XP:

  • Credits x308,000
  • Silvermane Badge x15
  • Silvermane Insignia x15
  • Silvermane Medal x15
  • Golden Crown of the Past Shadow x65

You can collect Silvermane Badges, Insignia, and Medals from Silvermane Guards and other enemies in the Outlying Snow Plains or the Corridor of Fading Echoes as well as the Simulated Universe. You can create or exchange them through the Omni-Synthesizer on the Astral Express, too. Silvermane Badges are one of the base materials you can easily farm through the Daily Assignments to your characters, making for a steady income of the material.

Golden Crowns of the Past Shadow are dropped by the Stagnant Shadow in Backwater Pass or gained through the exchange of similarly rare materials. The best source of Credits is the Great Mine's Golden Calyx.

Welt requires the following materials to upgrade her combat abilities and Traces:

  • Credits x3,000,000
  • Silvermane Badge x41
  • Silvermane Insignia x56
  • Silvermane Medal x58
  • Obsidian of Dread x18
  • Obsidian of Desolation x69
  • Obsidian of Obsession x139
  • Destroyer’s Final Road x12
  • Tracks of Destiny x8

For the materials already mentioned, check above. Obsidians can be farmed in the Great Mine's Crimson Calyx. As usual, you can create the high-level materials by using lower-level materials in the Omni-Synthesizer on the Astral Express.

Destroyer’s Final Road is a boss material only gained from the Echo of War (Supply Zone) domain, while Tracks of Destiny can be obtained during time-limited events, the Embers Exchange, the Nameless Honor, or as a Simulated Universe Points Reward.
