The Golden Knight is the finest fighter in all of Kislev, both in terms of combat skill and drip – and thanks to Update 4.2 for Total War: Warhammer 3, which added free content to the Shadows of Change DLC, this champion is now at your command as a Legendary Hero. Naryska Leysa is just as fresh in her role as The Golden Knight as Katarin is to being the Tzarina – Naryska’s father, the previous Golden Knight, is thought to have died with Katarin’s father Tzar Boris on the battlefield, fulfilling his duty as the royal bodyguard until the end.

Naryska Leysa is the second Legendary Hero available to Kislev, following Ulrika Magdova. She’s a powerful melee combattant, coming with a full set of legendary gear, and buffs allies when she takes damage, fortifying their resolve. She’s a perfect companion for Katarin in your main army, protecting the Ice Queen while she casts devastating spells.

Find out below how to recruit The Golden Knight, Naryska Leysa, in Total War: Warhammer 3.

The Golden Knight, Naryska Leysa, is the second Legendary Hero Kislev has access to.

Total War: Warhammer 3 – How to recruit The Golden Knight

The Golden Knight is part of the Shadows of Change DLC for Total War: Warhammer 3, so the first condition of recruiting her is to purchase the expansion pack. Afterwards, begin a campaign as Kislev. With Shadows of Change included, you have four options for this: Tzarina Katarin, Kostaltyn, Boris Ursus (who’s not as dead as is believed in Kislev), and Mother Ostankya.

Just like for Grand Cathay’s new Legendary Hero, you’ll need to secure three full provinces for your realm to trigger Naryska Leysa’s recruitment quest, titled “Descendant of Leysa” – it will be available on the turn after you’ve conquered the necessary lands. Unlike Great Bastion Gates, Kislev’s single-city provinces like Kislev itself and Praag do count towards this number. This first part of the quest requires you to kill 1,500 enemies in battle, which is sure to happen soon. If you want to be especially speedy, find yourself some Skaven to eliminate.

The Golden Knight comes kitted out with legendary gear, though she's missing an armor piece.

Completing this mission unlocks “A Golden Lineage” – the second part of the recruitment quest. All you have to do to complete this mission is build a Royal Barracks. This is the Tier 3 building unlocking the recruitment of Tzar Guard units, which can be constructed in large towns.

When this is done, you’ll get to recruit Naryska Leysa and even choose between two temporary bonuses. One decreases the recruitment cost for Ice Guard units and makes Tzar Guard units immune to Psychology, the other gives you better relations with other Kislevite factions and adds one slot to your Global Recruitment Capacity. Select whichever one you like or need most and The Golden Knight will appear next to your faction leader’s army.
