Yes, you can get the fully-repaired version of the Blade of Evil’s Bane, the Master Sword, in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but it requires some effort. You should already know that the Master Sword is shattered at the start of the game, and then seemingly sent to Zelda in another place to be repaired.

In this guide we’re breaking down all of the steps you need to know in order to find the Master Sword in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and yes, it’s probably the very best weapon in the game.

Geoglyphs and the Lost Woods – Zelda TOTK

Before you can even find where the Master Sword is, you will first need to complete two very important tasks.

First up are the Geoglyphs. You should already have the Impa and the Geoglyphs quest, and it’s necessary to find all Geoglyph tears before you can the Master Sword. You can find all Geoglyphs with our Geoglyph tear location guide.

Once that is done you will need to make your way into the Lost Woods and cure the Great Deku Tree of his ailment so he can give you the Master Sword’s current location. In order to get this done make sure to follow our Lost Woods guide and our Great Deku Tree cure guide.

Once those tasks are finally complete, the Great Deku Tree will give you a hint as to where the Master Sword is.

Light dragon location – Zelda TOTK

The Great Deku Tree will give you a waypoint to track, but that waypoint is in fact moving through the skies, sometimes being at Sky Island elevation, and sometimes just above the ground of Hyrule.

That’s because, as you will likely know as you approach, the Master Sword is on the forehead of the light dragon – and yes, the Light Dragon may in fact be Zelda. Maybe. Still not sure on that one.

You will have to take off from a Sky Island and fly towards the Light Dragon, which you can luckily track with a waypoint on your map now. Link needs to drop onto the dragon’s forehead and interact with the Master Sword in order to earn in.

Stamina required for the Master Sword – Zelda TOTK

The Light Dragon will thrash about during this scene, making the Master Sword difficult to obtain, but you can get the Master Sword here as long as you have at least two full rings of stamina. 

You can’t recover stamina mid-attempt, so make sure you have enough Stamina Vessels from Goddess Statues in advance.

Once you’ve pulled the Master Sword, it is yours for the rest of the game, ready to take down Ganondorf once and for all.
