Fontaine draws near. Genshin Impact 4.0, titled As Light Rain Falls Without Reason, is coming out soon. Just like version 2.0 brought Inazuma and 3.0 brought Sumeru, this update is going to be a massive one, featuring the all-new region of Fontaine.
HoYoverse has already given some updates on gameplay improvements players can expect to see in update 4.0, but as usual there will be a lot more to discover in the brand-new patch than is known at this point, especially with a completely fresh area coming up. Fontaine’s release starts the next chapter in the RPG’s main story and as we know from the recent Overture Teaser, things in the nation of justice are not as they appear to be – let intrigue, mystery, and court drama begin!

What else do we know about Genshin Impact 4.0?
For one, there will be three new playable characters in this patch – Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet are the first upcoming characters from Fontaine that players will be able to get into their hands.
We know that large parts of Fontaine are covered with water and official teasers as well as leaks have made it clear that a major overhaul of the swimming mechanics is coming to allow players to explore the depths of these currents – there will be lots of underwater exploration.
Fontaine’s storyline is looking to be a beefy one, spanning at least five acts, the first three of which will be available during version 4.0.
HoYoverse has also announced that additional weapons will be available through the battle pass starting with update 4.0, expanding the roster of existing 4-star items.
Big quality-of-life improvements will come to artifacts starting with version 4.0 as well: Players can expect to get more storage space and will be able to use 4-star artifacts to upgrade other pieces of gear without having to go through the hassle of manually selecting them. Further changes in this direction will come later with the goal to streamline the artifact system and make it less cumbersome.
Expect the usual series of Genshin Impact codes to be shown during the livestream, too.
