Stylistically, Wriothesley is very similar to Shikanoin Heizou, who uses a catalyst but is basically fighting with martial arts – only Wriothesley’s fighting style is more akin to that of a boxer, which is cool.
Wriothesley’s Elemental Skill, Icefang Rush, allows him to sprint forward a short distance and enter the Chilling Penalty state before unleashing a hail of punches. Wriothesley works in a variety of teams thanks to his inherent Cryo application as a catalyst-wielder, making him viable for various team compositions.
Freeze builds are especially strong for Wriothesley, because it reduces the chance of his attack chains being interrupted and of opponents moving around, which would mean that he’d have to waste time closing the gap once again. Kokomi delivers the necessary Hydro application for this as well as healing. Shenhe is a great Cryo Sub DPS, who can enhance Wriothesley’s damage. Kazuha is there for crowd control, bunching enemies up so they can be frozen in a good spot, and reducing their elemental resistance.
You can pull this sort of team off with Yelan, Xingqiu, or Mona as Hydro applicators as well. In that case, you’ll want someone like Diona, Layla, or Zhongli on the team to provide shields. Rosaria is a solid stand-in for Shenhe. Sucrose, Faruzan, Jean, or Venti can be used in Kazuha’s place.
Melt builds are another viable option for Wriothesley. Naturally, you’ll want the deadly duo of Bennett and Xiangling to provide the necessary Pyro effects as well as healing and damage boosts. Kazuha or his Anemo replacements fulfill the same role as above. You can slot in Thoma as a Pyro shield provider.
