Genshin Impact Dehya build and materials guide

How to kit out Sumeru’s mightiest mercenary

The best Genshin Impact Dehya build will allow you to use the mighty mercenary in every possible role on your team. Despite being decried as weak, Dehya is more flexible than most other characters when it comes to her position in a team, with her kit providing options to do damage or provide assistance from off-field.

Her Elemental Skill, Molten Inferno, summons a Fiery Sanctum that attacks enemies with a Pyro attack when you damage them. If you are being hurt near the Fiery Sanctum, part of the damage will be absorbed by Dehya even when she’s off the field, making her both an offensive and defensive off-field character.

Dehya’s Elemental Burst, Leonine Bite, is a purely offensive tool. Entering the Blazing Lioness state upon triggering the ability, she deals lots of Pyro damage as she furiously dishes out blows with her fists. Beware: Jumping interrupts this Elemental Burst, which can be a huge mistake as the energy costs are quite high.

Read to learn more on how you need to equip Dehya, which teams are good fits for her, and how you get all her ascension and talent upgrade materials.

Best Dehya weapons – Genshin Impact

Regardless of the position you want to assign to Dehya, there is one clear choice when it comes to her best weapon: It’s her signature weapon, Beacon of the Reed Sea, which was released at the same time as her. This 5-star claymore boosts the wielder’s Critical Hit Rate and comes with an effect that enhances the Attack value after an Elemental Skill hits an opponent and after taking damage. Additionally, it provides the wielder with more HP if they are not shielded.

This combination of effects help Dehya in both her offensive and defensive function.

Here are the best weapons for Dehya in Genshin Impact:

  • Beacon of the Reed Sea (5-star claymore) – any role
  • Wolf’s Gravestone (5-star claymore) – Main DPS, Sub DPS
  • Serpent Spine (4-star claymore) – Main DPS, Sub DPS
  • Luxurious Sealord (4-star claymore) – Main DPS, Sub DPS
  • Akuoumaru (4-star claymore) – Main DPS, Sub DPS
  • Favonius Greatword (4-star claymore) – Support
  • Sacrificial Greatword (4-star claymore) – Support
  • Katsuragikiri Nagamasa (4-star claymore) – Support
  • The Bell (4-star claymore) – Support

Best Dehya artifacts – Genshin Impact

You should choose different artifact sets depending on what role you want to play Dehya in, so we’ll go over them one by one:

  • Dehya as Main DPS: 4x Crimson Witch of Flames
  • Dehya as Sub DPS: 4x Emblem of Severed Fate
  • Dehya as Support: 4x Tenacity of the Millelith

Crimson Witch of Flames boosts Dehya’s damage through Pyro attacks and reactions, making it perfect for Vaporize or Melt teams. If you’re going for a pure Pyro team, you’re better off using the Sub DPS configuration with Emblem of Severed Fate. This not only helps a lot with energy management, but also maximizes the Elemental Burst damage. Finally, Tenacity of the Millelith is best for Support Dehya as it boosts her HP and provides an Attack bonus for the team.

Best Dehya teams – Genshin Impact

Dehya, as mentioned above, is quite flexible when it comes to her role, which also comes with her ability to fit into a great range of different teams.

This Pyro-heavy team buffs Dehya’s damage through the Pyro Resonance, with Xiangling and Bennett providing area-of-effect damage. The latter can also heal Dehya back up, as she’ll be on the field a lot. Kazuha may not be a Pyro character, but wearing Viridescent Venerer can shred the enemies’ Pyro resistance with his Swirls to further increase Dehya’s damage output.

Other teams with Dehya as a Main DPS include a Melt team with Ganyu and Shenhe as Sub DPS and Support characters, a Vaporize team with Kokomi or Mona as a Sub DPS, or an Overcharged team with Raiden Shogun or Yae Miko as Sub DPS. Kazuha can as always be replaced with Sucrose.

  • Hu Tao (Main DPS), Yelan (Sub DPS), Dehya (Sub DPS), Xingqiu (Support)

While Dehya Elemental Skill unfortunately doesn’t work well enough to make her the star in a Vaporize team with them, she works alright as a Sub DPS. Both her and Hu Tao benefit from the HP boost the Hydro Resonance provides and Dehya can help the Main DPS out by absorbing some of the incoming damage, making it easier to manage a low-HP Hu Tao.

  • Alhaitham (Main DPS), Yelan (Sub DPS), Xingqiu (Sub DPS), Dehya (Support)

This composition revolves around generating Dendro Cores through Dendro-Hydro reactions, on which Dehya can then trigger the Burgeon reaction through her off-field ability. You can also use Nahida or Kamisato Ayato as the Main DPS here.

Dehya ascension materials – Genshin Impact

You’ll want to quickly raise Dehya’s level when you pull her, which means that you’ll need to farm her ascension materials. You’ll also require some material to upgrade her talents.

Here’s what you need to get Dehya to level 90:

  • Agnidus Agate Sliver x1
  • Agnidus Agate Fragment x9
  • Agnidus Agate Chunk x9
  • Agnidus Agate Gemstone x6
  • Faded Red Satin x18
  • Trimmed Red Silk x30
  • Rich Red Brocade x36
  • Sand Grease Pupa x168
  • Light Guiding Tetrahedron x46
  • Mora x2,092,530

Farming Agnidus Agate is pretty straightforward, as you can reliably get it from Pyro-affiliated enemies like the Pyro Hypostasis in Inazuma or the Pyro Regisvine in Liyue. Satin, Silk, and Brocade all drop from Eremite enemies in Sumeru, which you’ll find plenty of. Sand Grease Pupa is a material found in the Desert of Hadramaveth and we have a farming guide with all Sand Grease Pupa locations to make things easy for you. Finally, the Light Guiding Tetrahedron is a boss drop from the Algorithm of Semi-Intransient Matrix of Overseer Network in the Sumeru desert. As always, the best way to earn more Mora is to farm golden Ley Line Blossoms.

Here’s what you need to upgrade each of Dehya’s talents, so you’ll require three times this amount of resources in total:

  • Faded Red Satin x6
  • Trimmed Red Silk x22
  • Rich Red Brocade x31
  • Teachings of Praxis x3
  • Guide to Praxis x21
  • Philosophies of Praxis x38
  • Puppet Strings x6
  • Crown of Insight x1
  • Mora x1,653,000

Step 1: Rob more Eremites. Step 2: Visit the Steeple of Ignorance Domain on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday to farm Scrolls of Praxis. Step 3: Kick that fake god Scaramouche’s ass in Sumeru to get Puppet Strings. Step 4: Participate in limited-time events to obtain Crowns of Insights or claim them as rewards from places like the Tree of Dreams.
